Zoning: Ensuite question.

Region: All States

Assessor Question:

When ceiling mounted vent for heating & cooling has been nominated in a bathroom, that room could no longer be considered an unconditioned room? It would become a daytime zone. Is that correct?

The same vent is in the Ensuite, would this make it a daytime zone too?

TechLink Response:

  • The inclusion of documentation that indicates fixed heating and/or cooling reticulation as part of a total dwelling system servicing bathrooms triggers the requirement for those rooms to be zoned as conditioned spaces even if they have openable windows.
  • Ensuite bathrooms accessed through a bedroom are night time conditioned zones regardless of whether they have windows or fixed heating/cooling systems.
