The following advice on the application of 1 star credit has been received from Queensland Department of Energy and Public works.
Thank you for following up with us on how the Whole-of-Home score applies in QLD with the use of optional credits available under the Queensland Development Code MP 4.1–Sustainable buildings (QDC 4.1).
Please note that the current version of QDC 4.1 provides optional credits for outdoor living areas in all four QLD climate zones (1 - tropical, 2 - subtropical, 3 -hot arid and 5 – warm temperate), for both houses (class 1 buildings) and sole-occupancy units in apartment buildings (class 2).
The optional credits are not ‘concessions’ as they provide an energy equivalence towards the 7-star residential energy efficiency requirements for the dwelling’s building shell (roof, walls, windows and floors), with ½-star for a covered outdoor living area (at minimum design specifications) and 1-star where it includes a complaint ceiling fan.
