Assessor Question:

I was initially asked to do a Section J Report on a detached converted shipping container and now the clients tell me that the Certifier wants to assess it as a Class 1 as its going to be a personal gym.

Can I do a NatHERS assessment on it and treat it similar to a studio apartment/bedsit for the zoning?

• It is not possible to use a NatHERS Assessment for this building without a kitchen.
• Being a satellite portion of a class 1a Dwelling without a kitchen the simple method to demonstrate compliance for building fabric energy efficiency will be with an Elemental Deemed to Satisfy assessment.
• The alternatives to an Elemental DtS assessment are a Performance Assessment or Expert Opinion.
• In those cases, it is necessary to demonstrate a level of performance equal to or better than the DtS results.
