Assessor Question:

When doing a performance solution, the glazing to the deemed-to-satisfy building (followings elemental provisions) must comply.

I am using the Glazing Calculator Volume Two 2019 v3-11.

Under 3.12.1.1, there are provisions for when we can model high air movement. I have had another assessor tell me that this applies to the whole floor and that not individual habitable rooms have to have high air movement.

Could you please confirm, does each habitable room to the story have to have high air movement for us to model the air movement as high in the glazing calculator?

TeckLink Response:

  • The ABCB Glazing Calculator is a simple Excel Spreadsheet and does not have any level of flexibility to envisage the vast variability in dwelling design arrangements.
  • It is applied to all windows on a floor of a dwelling on a floor by floor basis.
  • If the sub-floor air movement varies from room to room on a floor it will be necessary to enter the worst case for the whole floor.
