State: All where Whole of Home Assessment is required

Question:

TechLink have a new query beginning to come across our Tech support desk relating to how to allocate energy use to a second (small) dwelling (either attached or separate from the main dwelling) on the site for whole of home assessment purposes (this includes where solar PV is present on the main dwelling and sharing that with the second dwelling).

NatHERS Advice

The NatHERS technical team have advised that the two dwellings, where detached, should be assessed separately. Where they are attached, they can be assessed as one.

Where the two are detached and one solar PV system serves both, there are no settings in current software to apportion the solar PV import and export between the two. As such, NatHERS Whole of Home cannot be used, an alternative NCC compliance pathway may be considered.
