Region: NSW
Assessor Question:
We are trying to model 10 existing terraced houses in NSW with alternation and addition to the backyard. For the existing part, the client will not change the building fabrics e.g. existing external walls without insulation and single clear glass etc. By including these existing building fabrics, it is very hard to meet the heating and cooling requirements. I know as per Nathers protocol, we need to model both existing and addition as a whole dwelling .
Therefore, is there any latest documents to show how to treat these existing building fabrics if they are unchanged ?
TechLink Response:
- Each dwelling in the row of 10 terraces will need an individual BASIX compliance assessment by selecting Alterations & Additions as the project description.
- Alterations and additions projects are then dealt with in BASIX where only the new components need to be entered in the BASIX assessment.
- This is not a method that uses NatHERS simulation for arriving at a star rating or heating and cooling caps.
