Assessor Question:

I’m having a house designed for myself and was wondering if I was allowed to energy rate my own home or if I need somebody else to do it? Is it a conflict of interest if I do it myself?

TechLink Response:

  • It is totally fine for a TPA to carry out work on their own project.
  • It is just required that the conflict-of-interest declaration be filled out accordingly.
  • This then just highlights to all concerned that the NatHERS rating may be open to scrutiny for the accuracy of the data inclusions to ensure that there has not been any divergence, unintentional or otherwise, from protocol procedures.
