Slab thickness

Entrant Question:

Are there any guidelines for the thickness of the concrete floor slab modelled?

The thickness of a slab is determined by a site’s soil conditions - with approximately 110mm being a standard slab on stable ground, and 150mm thick being a suspended slab on less stable ground.

150mm gives additional thermal mass and thus better performance.

Are we free to choose the slab thickness, or should we assume a standard 100mm /110mm thick slab?

Response:

Entrant's are free to specify any slab they would like.  Just remember to also model the specified slab thickness in the True Zero Spreadsheet when it is used to calculate the embodied carbon impact.
